DOLA Joins Denver's Fifth Annual PJ Day!

So, on Thursday, January 28, wear PJ's to work!  Ok.  More explanation needed, eh?

For the past 5 years, PJ Day has been Denver's day to help end homelessness.  The idea is that you can show your support and raise awareness by wearinig PJs to work and by visiting participating restaurants and business that are donating a portion of sales to Denver's Road Home

This is the first year that the Department of Local Affairs will be pitching in and we've got a morning of activities planned.  First off, we should probably address what we mean by "wear your PJs to work".  Obviously, since we are still a place of business so, you can choose what is appropriate by using two rules of thumb:

1) If you hold up your PJs before putting them on and catch yourself seriously debating whether they would be considered "appropriate" for work?  They aren't.  Put them back and pick something that would raise no questions about appropriateness...

2) If you must, consider how your Grandmother would react if she walked in with all of her friends and saw you in this public place/work environment wearing your PJs.  If the answer involves an anticipation of her disapproval or prompts images of being hit with a purse... pick something that would prompt Grandma to give you a hug for caring about raising homeless awareness in a smart and responsible way and then begin bragging to her friends about you.

Good?  (Hint... sweats, full body PJs = cool... anything "as seen on MTV" or spotted on a Eurpean beach = not cool).

Now, with that bit of necessity of the way... the DOLA EQT is planning on hosting a breakfast, starting at 8:00 am lasting until 9:30 am in room 320.  For a $5.00 contribution, you "buy" the ability to wear PJs for the day.  If you do, and be eligible for selection of "Best PJs".  For an additional $3.00, you can grab a muffin, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc.  You can also vote on who you think should win "Best PJs".  The votes are due by 9:15 am and the Best PJ parade will start at 9:30 am!!!

Remember to check back here for pics and more!
